The Sustainability Of Beef Organ Supplements

Sustainability is front and center in many people's minds these days. Are beef organ supplements sustainable, and what factors should you look for to know?

Beef Organ Supplements Sustainability

While many companies pay lip service to sustainability, NXGEN Wholefoods takes it very seriously. From the pasture to the bottle, every step is done with sustainability in mind.

It all starts with how the cattle are raised. NXGEN Wholefoods meat and organs come from real regenerative family farms, which is the most sustainable way of farming. The cattle help to sequester a massive amount of carbon into the soil. Not only does this remove carbon dioxide from the atmosphere, but it also helps improve the local water table. It dramatically increases biodiversity, including more insects, plants, animals, and wildlife in the grazed area. Real regenerative cattle farming also avoids the use of any pesticides, herbicides, or synthetic fertilizers. This also prevents runoff into local waterways and protects the environment from the harms associated with runoff, such as die-offs and algae blooms. This is only the case when real regenerative agriculture is practiced, not the fake kind being peddled by many massive corporations. It’s essential to choose beef organ supplements from companies that can trace the organs back to the farms they come from, not just the country of origin, if you really want to know if they are made sustainably, because there are sustainable and unsustainable farms in every country. Unfortunately, most companies source their ingredients through middlemen and have contract manufacturers make their products, so they don't know where the ingredients come from. In addition, many corporations and farms claim to practice regenerative farming and source regenerative ingredients, but they're not doing anything close to real regenerative farming. For more in-depth information about the farms and region from which NXGEN Wholefoods sources its organs, check out our blog.

Cattle Farming Sustainability

Another sustainability issue associated with cattle farming is the clearing of forests, rainforests, wetlands, and other environmentally sensitive areas to make room for cattle farming. Even if the cows are grass-fed, the damage to the local environment is immense due to habitat destruction. There is no reason that we should be destroying the rainforest to make room for cattle grazing. This is one big reason why it is best to avoid using beef organ supplements from South America.

The next issue comes from growing crops to feed cattle. A lot of cattle labeled as grass-fed are actually confined in feedlots and fed grass and alfalfa pellets. While these cattle are technically grass-fed, it takes a considerable amount of resources, especially water, to grow things like alfalfa, which is often grown in water-scarce areas like Arizona. In addition, this type of farming does not provide the benefits to the local environment and the carbon sequestration that regenerative agriculture does. An additional problem with this is that the alfalfa is often grown in places where food for humans can be grown, and we should not be replacing good farmland with crops to feed cattle, when there is plenty of land not suitable for growing crops that cattle could be grazed on. The cattle NXGEN Wholefoods sources their organs graze freely in the Lake Eyre River Basin of Australia, on land not suitable for crop farming, and it does not need to be cleared to suit the cattle. This allows the local environment and the cattle to thrive!

NXGEN Wholefoods Sustainable Manufacturing

After cattle, the next area of sustainability comes at the factory in Australia. Here are a few ways sustainability is integrated into the factory.

  • It is powered by hydroelectricity from the Hydro Energy Scheme in the Snowy Mountains.

  • The buildings are well-insulated to reduce energy consumption.

  • The manufacturing equipment uses IE5 energy-efficient motors.

  • It has water-saving devices throughout, and stormwater is collected in rainwater tanks for laundry and toilet use.

  • All products are packaged in recyclable bottles and containers.

  • Recyclable paper packing materials for shipments. Excess cardboard and plastics are recycled.

  • In the US, the warehouse where the products are stored and shipped from in the United States, after being received from the Australian factory, is a zero-waste facility that is partially powered by renewable energy.

  • Sustainable paper packaging materials are used in the US warehouse to package orders for shipment.

NXGEN Wholefoods takes sustainability seriously. Because they control the entire process from raw material to bottle, they can integrate sustainable choices into every step. This is a far cry from most companies that do not produce their own raw materials or products, so they have no control over the sustainability. If you want the most sustainable beef organ supplements, NXGEN Wholefoods is the clear choice.
