Cattle grazing in the Lake Eyre River Basin of Australia.
Beef Organ Supplement Sourcing
The area where the cattle graze makes a big difference in the quality of a beef organ supplement. Knowing only the country of origin does not tell you very much. There are good and bad farms in every country, as well as more pristine and more polluted areas in those countries. That's why the country of origin alone is insufficient. However, since most beef organ supplement companies have no connection to the farms or sourcing, they really cannot tell you where their products come from.
Beef Organs From The Lake Eyre River Basin In Australia
The Lake Eyre region of Australia is vast and beautiful.
Lake Eyre is a natural salt lake in Central Australia that the fresh water rivers of the Georgina, Diamantina Rivers, and Cooper Creek drain into. One of the truly unique and remarkable aspects of Australia is that its rivers flow inward, not outward.
Essentially a desert that floods, the Lake Eyre Channel Country’s fascinating history is intricately connected to its geography. Its prehistory as part of an inland sea and its current ecosystem of pulses of water mean that it has been a precious land to pastoralists, Aboriginal people, and now to those dedicated to preserving and keeping this ancient land in its original state, as it has been for thousands of years.
Floods of all sizes are needed and valued; it would be an error to think that only large floods are important. Minor floods sustain the waterhole refuges for fish and other animals that can later move into floodplain swamps during larger floods, thereby in turn supporting the incoming waterbirds. Graziers (livestock farmers) also depend on the smaller, more frequent floods to provide their core herds with feed between the years of bigger floods and good local rainfall.
Currently, there are no major dams or flow impediments, and no large-scale water harvesting, on the four river systems of the Channel Country. This distinguishes the Channel Country from most of the heavily degraded areas of the Murray-Darling Basin. This is a perfect example of why you need to know more than just the country of origin of your beef organ supplements. You will get much cleaner organs from the Lake Eyre region than the Murray-Darling Basin, but if you just knew the country of origin, you wouldn’t know which area the organs came from.
Graziers describe four categories of flood in terms of inundation extent and benefit: a channel flood, confined to the deep channels; a gutter flood, which spills into networks of minor gutters and covers up to 15% of the floodplain; a handy flood, which forms sheets of water covering up to 60% of the floodplain; and a good flood, covering 80-100% of the floodplain. There are three relevant land systems: frequently flooded alluvial plains; poorly drained swamps and depressions; and flat alluvial plains that are occasionally flooded, being inundated only during good/major floods.
The Lake Eyre Channel Country soils are in balance with nature. The nutrients are supplied by the tropical rains of Northern Australia. As the water washes down through the rivers and creeks from tropical rains in the north, it picks up nutrients and minerals, bringing with it new nourishment that sparks the life of new native grasses and vegetation for the cattle to graze on. Cattle in Australia's prime Lake Eyre region have a unique DNA that enables them to flourish on native grasses, and their unique breeding disposition allows them to thrive in arid hot climates, where no other breed could.
Nxgen Wholefoods selects beef cattle from the frequently flooded alluvial plains where the soils and water are clean and of enormous nutritional value. The native grasses offer cattle bred for survival in these arid areas an exceptional source of vitamins, minerals, and unparalleled nutrient density.
Making quality glandulars starts with great pastures for the cattle to graze on. The Lake Eyre region's unspoiled and wild open pasture lands are uniquely and ideally suited for this. From farm to bottle, NXGEN Wholefoods is proud to bring you the best beef organ supplements.
