Are Cattle for Beef Organ Supplements Vaccinated? What to Know

One of the most common questions we get is whether the cattle raised for beef organ supplements get vaccines, including mRNA vaccines. It’s a great question, so let’s dive right in.

Vaccines In Beef Organ Supplements

Whether a beef organ supplement (as well as those made from bison, buffalo, elk, reindeer, venison, lamb, etc.) is made from cattle that have been vaccinated really depends on the type of farm and where the farm is located. Different countries and regions within those countries can have widely varying regulations on this.

For example, in the US, vaccine regulations for farm animals are set by states, not the federal government, so every state has its own rules on whether cattle require vaccinations and which ones they receive. In addition, a farmer can choose to give more vaccines than required by the state if they wish.

In addition, the type of farming can also determine vaccination requirements. For example, in Australia:

“Organic standards classify the use of vaccines as ‘restricted’. This means that their routine use is discouraged and is only permitted when it can be demonstrated by the organic farmer that a specific disease is endemic in the region or on the organic farm, or where their use is required by law, or in proven cases, where such a disease cannot be effectively controlled by other management practices. Organic certifiers require written verification from a veterinarian to confirm the presence or threat of disease infection prior to approving the application of the treatment. In addition, the vaccines must not contain genetically modified ingredients or byproducts. The use of vaccines under these circumstances will not prejudice certification and does not require quarantine procedures. Full records of all treatments must be kept.

In Australia, there are no vaccine mandates for non-organic cattle. So farmers may choose to use or not use them. In most countries, rules like this mean a beef organ supplement made from cattle from a variety of farms may contain some from farms that give vaccines and some from farms that don’t.

In the US, vaccines are permitted in organic cattle farming, without the prohibitions present in countries like Australia.

Whether an organ supplement is made from vaccinated or unvaccinated cattle (or other ruminants) varies greatly from country to country, region within those countries, and brand to brand.

MNRA Vaccines In Beef Organ Supplements

Currently, there are no mRNA vaccines legal for use in cattle in any country. Some are in the testing phase, but none have been approved for commercial use so far. Based on this, no beef organ (or other ruminant) supplement would be made with cattle given mRNA vaccines.

How can you know if your beef organ supplements are made from vaccinated cattle?

The best way to know whether your beef organ supplements are made from vaccinated or unvaccinated cattle is to purchase organ supplements from companies that get their beef organs directly from the farms and make the raw materials and supplements themselves. They should be able to trace each batch back to the farms and cattle they came from. This makes it very easy for them to verify whether the cattle were vaccinated.

For example, in Australia, if a cow is vaccinated, records must be kept and submitted to the government. This allows a company that makes its own products and can trace each batch of organs back to the farm and the cow to easily search the database to find out. Look for beef organ supplements made from countries with strict monitoring systems like this for an extra level of transparency.

Unfortunately, the dirty secret of the beef organ supplement industry is that nearly all of them don’t make their own raw materials or products. They don’t have any connection to the farms and buy big tubs of organ powders from a middleman who combines organs from a huge number of farms and places. There’s no way for a company buying from these middleman to know all of the farms and their practices. It would be virtually impossible for them to independently verify whether the middleman was being honest with them about the vaccination status of every single cow.

That's why choosing beef organ supplements from companies with a direct relationship with farmers and that make their own raw materials and products is so vital.

Are NXGEN Wholefoods Beef Organ Supplements Made From Vaccinated Cattle?

All NXGEN Wholefoods beef organ supplements are made from unvaccinated cattle. Because they have a direct relationship with the farmers and can trace each batch of their organs back to the farm and the cow, they can easily identify the vaccine status.

Unlike other companies, NXGEN Wholefoods makes its own beef organ supplements. They control the entire process from pasture ot bottle. They get the organs directly from a group of regenerative family farmers in the Lake Eyre River Basin of Australia. Each lot of organs is traceable back to the individual farms and cattle they come from. Once they receive the organs, they use a specialized freeze-drying process, followed by cryogenic milling, to ensure the organs are not damaged by the heat generated by traditional milling. After that, they encapsulate and bottle the products. All of it is done in-house at their state-of-the-art TGA-certified (the Australian version of GMP) facility, purpose-built for the unique requirements of beef organ supplement manufacturing. Following that, testing is carried out at NATA-accredited labs. To learn more about what makes them different from other companies, check out this blog. Prioritizing Transparency in Your Beef Organ Supplement Sourcing

Ultimately, determining whether the cattle used in a beef organ supplement were vaccinated comes down to transparency. Only a company that controls the entire process from pasture to bottle can be truly transparent. If everything from raw material sourcing to production and manufacturing is outsourced, the company has no ability to be fully transparent because someone else is doing everything.

Is your health worth gambling on a company that never handles the beef organs in the products they market?
