Why does the color vary from batch to batch?
Some tallow can have slight color variations to others due to different breeds and species of organic cattle. Hereford Cattle, Angus Cattle, Charolais Cattle, and Brahman Cattle all have different fat coloring, even though they are all 100% grass-fed. For this same reason, whipped tallow can vary in its ability to whip into a full cream depending on the breed of cattle the fat is sourced from. Despite the breed, the whipped tallow cream still has the same unique properties.
Why is the whipped tallow not yellow in color?
The whipped tallow is not white due to oxidation, nor is it white due to additives. It’s white because the whipped tallow molecules now have air particles induced amongst the tallow molecules, which reduces the yellow coloring.
How does Organic Whipped Tallow feel on the skin when applied?
If stored and cared for correctly, Organic Whipped Tallow is soft, smooth, and not grainy. If it is grainy, it means part of the Whipped Tallow Cream has melted and is no longer homogeneous due to being above 40 °C. It is still safe to use, and the effectiveness has not changed.
Is the whipped tallow comedogenic?
Whipped Tallow is lighter, softer, and smoother than tallow balm. Whipping tallow impregnates air into the tallow, making it softer, so that when applied to sensitive skin, it is less dense and much easier to apply over the skin, so it impregnates the pores of the skin more easily, without blocking them. Tallow Balm cannot achieve the same result because it’s denser and does not spread over the skin with the same effect and as easily. The aerated whipped tallow breathes more easily on the skin.
It is non-comedogenic.
Does Organic Whipped Tallow Smell?
No, the Organic Whipped Tallow has no beefy smell.
Why has my whipped tallow turned a black color in parts?
This can be caused by several things. First, it may be a result of moisture entering the tallow jar if the lid isn’t on tight or if there was water on your hands when taking cream out of the jar. Make sure your hands are very dry before using. Discolouration can also occur from unwashed hands.
The black discolouration can be removed with a spoon, and the tallow will be safe to use. The black is not mold or harmful. Use clean hands or tools when applying balm to avoid introducing bacteria into the jar.
